The vehicle is still a salvaged vehicle - as it has a salvaged title - regardless of if the engine was replaced. It's up to each insurance companies own discretion if they want to offer full coverage. Again, just because it got a new engine - does NOT change the fact that the vehicle is still a salvaged vehicle and holds a salvaged title - the DMV will not change the fact that it holds a salvaged title.

Unless you restore the car, bumper-to-bumper, it will have little value except for the engine. As it is, is is worth a few hundred dollars. The new engine will be worth quite a bit, but that does not increase the value of the rest of the car. So, it will be a beater daily driver with a good engine. If you restore it, then you get a certified appraisal of value.

The vehicle is and will always be a salvage vehicle... sure, you can get it insured... but if the vehicle ever "totals" again- i certainly hope he doesnt think hes going to get full value- it will get salvage value.

Now, thats if you get lucky.. if you try to insure it at the same company who totalled it.. i doubt they will allow coverage on it at all.
